Space Computer, Inc.
Space Computer is building an AI-native distributed filesystem that gives people, applications, and AI agents instant access to shared cloud data without full-file downloads or local disk copies. Its mission is to provide one persistent filesystem where human and agent work can coexist and remain available across machines.

Latest News
Space announced a $2.4 million pre-seed round led by a16z Speedrun, with participation from Golden Ventures, Northside Ventures, and angel investors.
Forbes reported on Space's funding, streaming-style cloud file access, target markets in video and CAD, and its goal of building an 'infinite computer.'
BetaKit covered Space's $2.4 million pre-seed and its private-beta product for accessing cloud files through the operating system without physically downloading them.
a16z Speedrun profiled Space as a cohort 007 company and described its AI-native filesystem, four-person team, San Francisco location, and SDK/agent positioning.
Products & Services
A cloud filesystem that appears as a normal drive on macOS and Linux, streams only requested byte ranges, keeps files available across connected machines, and lets existing applications and AI agents read and write shared files without full-file downloads.
An enterprise deployment offering with SSO/SAML, on-premises and private-cloud options, customer-owned storage, access controls, auditing and compliance features, version controls, retention, migration, and dedicated support.
An S3-compatible developer SDK and endpoint for applications and agents. It supports TypeScript, Python, Go, and Rust, including drive forks, byte-range edits, versioned changes, and persistent agent workspaces.
Market Position
Space positions itself below the application layer, making cloud-hosted data behave like local files inside native desktop applications and agent environments. Unlike Dropbox, Box, and Google Drive's primarily sync- or web-application-oriented workflows, Space streams only the needed bytes and avoids permanent local copies; Forbes also identified Spacedrive and Byteport as emerging competitors. a16z Speedrun's profile says Space is 2–50× faster than other high-performance virtual filesystems on real-world workloads.
Leadership
Founders
Matthew Ao
Co-founder and CEO. Previously bootstrapped Eden.so to more than $1 million in ARR in under ten months; a University of Toronto Engineering dropout. At Space he leads product.
Arihant Bapna
Co-founder and CTO. Previously worked with Matthew Ao and Jason Zhao at Eden.so and brings engineering and filesystem-infrastructure experience; at Space he leads engineering.
Jason Zhao
Co-founder and COO. Previously co-founded and operated Eden.so; his experience managing large video-footage libraries through his YouTube work and at Eden exposed the team to the file-transfer bottleneck. At Space he leads go-to-market.

Founding Story
The founders repeatedly encountered the problem that their work had outgrown their computers. Jason had accumulated years of video footage across drives and cloud services, and at Eden.so the team moved terabytes of footage each month, losing time to transfers, duplicate copies, and files stranded on individual drives. They built Space to make files available inside the applications people already use, then extended the idea to persistent workspaces for AI agents.
Business Model
Revenue Model
Paid subscriptions for individual users and teams, with per-member storage plans and add-on storage; enterprise contracts use custom seats, storage, infrastructure, and support terms. The company also offers enterprise deployment and customer-owned-storage configurations.
Pricing Tiers
One seat across all the user's computers, 1 TB included storage, public file links and upload requests, standard streaming performance, and additional storage at $6/month per 500 GB. Includes a 7-day trial.
Everything in Individual plus 1 TB pooled storage per member, high-performance throughput, shared workspaces, member access controls, unlimited owned drives, whole-drive and direct sharing, and additional storage at $12/month per 500 GB. Includes a 7-day trial.
Custom pricing, seats, and storage terms; dedicated infrastructure, granular version controls and retention, custom auditing and compliance reporting, on-premises/private-cloud deployment, migration, dedicated support, and SSO/SAML.
