About AI Design Skills
AI Design Skills is an MIT-licensed collection of design skills for AI coding tools, published by elayadesign on GitHub. Each skill is a self-contained folder with a SKILL.md file that tools like Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and Windsurf can read as rules. The collection currently lists a landing-page design skill, with more described as on the way.
What It Is
The project packages design guidance as markdown rules files that an AI coding assistant follows when generating work. Users pick a skill folder and install it into their tool of choice, then ask in plain language for what the skill covers.
The listed landing-page-design skill builds a landing page from scratch. It covers intake questions, page structure, and conversion copy, along with a full visual system including type, spacing, radius, and motion.
How Installation Works
For Claude Code, a skill folder is copied into .claude/skills. For Cursor, the SKILL.md file is downloaded into .cursor/rules or pasted into the Rules for AI settings. For Codex, Windsurf, Cline, and other tools, the SKILL.md contents go into the tool's rules file, such as AGENTS.md, .windsurfrules, or .clinerules. Claude.ai users can upload the file to a Project or attach it to a chat.
Customization
Each skill's design values, including fonts, colors, spacing, and motion, sit in one section near the bottom of its file. Forking the repo and editing that section changes the rest of the skill's output accordingly.
The README credits content realism and motion ideas in landing-page-design to Leonxlnx/taste-skill by Leon Lin, MIT licensed. A separate repository, redesign-skill, covers upgrading an existing site rather than building a new one.
