bro is a collection of practical agent skills from backnotprop for daily work with AI coding agents. Its README tagline is "Alignment shouldn't be so hard." It installs through the skills CLI, as a Claude Code plugin, or as a Codex plugin.

What It Is

bro is a skill pack for AI agents that focuses on keeping the human and the agent on the same page. Each skill is a command that changes how the agent communicates or reports on work, such as restating a response in plain language or summarizing recent activity.

Included Skills

• bro restates the last AI response in plain language.
• readback {prompt} restates the user's prompt clearly to confirm alignment.
• facts lists the critical facts to know before or after an implementation.
• recap gives a two- or three-sentence recap of recent work, focused on what happened last.
• clean-room gets an independent verdict from a fresh agent with no access to the current conversation.
• status renders work in flight as an ASCII status board in the terminal.
• ladder renders one lane of work as a vertical progress ladder, with done items on top and todo items below.

The latest skill is /ladder [lane]. It renders one lane of work top to bottom, with a line marking where the work stands today, followed by the next step.

Setup Path

Install with npx skills add backnotprop/bro. For Claude Code, add the marketplace with /plugin marketplace add backnotprop/bro and then run /plugin install bro@bro. For Codex, run codex plugin marketplace add backnotprop/bro and then codex plugin add bro@bro.
