About Chakshu
Chakshu (Sanskrit for "the eye") is a self-hosted pull request reviewer for GitHub from Havelin Labs. Each team keeps its own reviewer as a folder of skills and rules, and reviews run inside the reviewed repository's GitHub Actions. The docs state it works on main and has been run against a real GitHub organization, but there is no tagged release yet.
What It Is
Chakshu is a code review tool you run on your own server with Docker Compose and Postgres. You connect it to GitHub through a GitHub App, add Claude access (an Anthropic API key or a Claude Pro or Max subscription token), and enable a workflow per repository. Reviews are triggered by mentioning @your-org/chakshu on a pull request or pressing Review in the portal.
How Reviews Work
Each team keeps skills and rules in one repo. When called, Chakshu runs the ones that fit the change, or the ones you name. Reviews execute in the reviewed repository, so logs appear in its Actions tab and the server stays small. The reviewer is read-only: it can read code and nothing else, and connector tokens such as Jira stay on the server.
Analytics and Spend
The portal reports usage, outcomes and spend by repository, reviewer and person. It also covers teams, review speed, tokens and return on spend, spend alerts, and a forecast against a monthly cap.
Current Status
The docs note there is no tagged release yet and invite feedback on rough edges through GitHub issues.
