About codeset
Codeset is an AI tutoring platform that teaches programming and other subjects through a structured, full-syllabus approach — not open-ended chat. Every course pairs a complete curriculum with a personal project the learner chooses at the start, and the AI tutor teaches each concept inside that project, one lesson at a time. The platform is in early access and is operated by Codeset, Lda.
What It Is
Codeset sits at the intersection of structured online courses and AI tutoring. Unlike a general-purpose chatbot, it maintains a full syllabus for each subject, tracks exactly where a learner left off, and reads the actual files and terminal output the learner produced — not just their description of it. The result is a tutor that can spot mistakes the learner hasn't noticed yet and teach the underlying gap rather than handing over a fix.
How the Learning Method Works
The platform enforces three rules it describes as necessary for a course to be a course rather than "a chatbot with a syllabus stapled to it":
- The whole syllabus gets covered. What a learner wants to build doesn't determine what they skip. Every skill is placed somewhere in the curriculum.
- The tutor reads the work itself. It inspects the files written and the output produced, not the learner's account of them.
- Reading isn't finishing. Each concept follows a lesson → apply-in-project → unaided test sequence. Stars on the progress rail represent what the learner could do without the tutor, not what they scrolled past.
The Project-First Setup
When a learner starts a course, the only setup question is what they want to build — a game, a scraper, a command-line tool. The workspace opens in the browser with starter files already configured for that idea, and the same syllabus as every other learner is taught through those specific files. Courses with code run entirely in a browser-based editor and terminal; courses without code (non-programming subjects) need no setup at all.
Catalog and Custom Course Generation
The catalog currently lists 27 courses covering 1,044 lessons across subjects including Python, Rust, Go, C, Kubernetes, and introductory machine learning. Every syllabus — every module and every lesson in order — is readable without an account before signing up. For subjects not in the catalog, learners can describe a topic and the tutor generates a full syllabus module by module before any commitment is made.
Current Status
Codeset is in early access. The homepage acknowledges that some courses go deeper than others, the tutor occasionally gets things wrong, and the coding workspace currently requires a laptop (though lessons and the tutor work on a phone). The platform describes itself as early and invites users to judge it by reading a syllabus end to end before signing up.
