Itential Platform

Itential is an agentic operations platform for infrastructure teams, founded in 2014 and headquartered in Atlanta. It lets teams build AI agents and deterministic workflows, connect them to the systems in their stack, and run every action through shared RBAC, approval gates and audit trails. The site describes it as fully managed SaaS.

What It Is

Itential sits as an orchestration layer above existing tools such as Ansible, Python, OpenTofu and Terraform, turning scripts and playbooks into governed, reusable services. Teams build FlowAgents (reasoning agents) and workflows on a visual Design Studio canvas, with AI assistance, or from their own code. Workflows can also be generated from plain-language specs through Spec-Driven Development and Itential Builder Skills.

How Execution and Governance Work

Every action, whether triggered by a human, a workflow or an AI agent, runs through one governed engine with pre-checks, post-checks, rollback and audit evidence. Itential Gateway runs Python, Ansible, OpenTofu and Terraform with RBAC and ephemeral environments. Configuration validation lets teams define golden configs and drift checks, and stateful orchestration models a service through its lifecycle. The vendor states the platform is SOC 2 Type II certified and provides SSO, secrets management and encryption.

Integrations and AI Connectivity

Itential says it offers 1,000+ open source integrations and open APIs connecting systems, AI agents, LLMs and MCP servers. An Itential MCP Server connects external AI to the platform, and a FlowMCP Gateway reaches MCP-connected systems for context. Operations can be published to a self-service catalog consumable via portal, REST API, MCP or ServiceNow.
