Kilo
Kilo is an AI-powered coding assistant that runs as a plugin across modern IDEs including VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Trae AI, and VS Code Insiders. It adds a terminal-style interface where developers can use natural language to break down tasks, design features, write code, and debug — all within their editor.
Kilo supports four structured modes:
- Orchestrator Mode: Breaks down large projects into subtasks.
- Architect Mode: Designs software solutions before implementation.
- Code Mode: Generates production-ready code from plans.
- Debug Mode: Identifies and resolves bugs.
It’s fully open source, customizable, and integrated with OpenRouter and the MCP ecosystem. Kilo also includes support for multiple agent personas, has no telemetry, no markup on model usage, and offers $20 in credits to get started.
