Perplexity Personal Computer

Perplexity Personal Computer is persistent AI agent software that runs continuously on a user-supplied Mac mini, giving AI direct access to local files, desktop apps, and active sessions around the clock. It extends Perplexity Computer, the company's cloud-based multi-model orchestration system, by bridging it with a physical machine that stays powered on and connected. The result is an always-on digital worker that can monitor triggers, execute multi-step workflows, and carry tasks forward while you're away.

Personal Computer operates as a hybrid local-cloud system. The Mac mini serves as the always-on host and local file access layer, while AI reasoning and orchestration happen on Perplexity's cloud servers inside isolated Firecracker VMs. Each task runs in its own sandboxed environment with a dedicated filesystem and browser instance.

• Multi-Model Orchestration - Routes tasks across 19-20 frontier AI models including Claude Opus 4.6 as the core reasoning engine, Gemini for deep research, Grok for lightweight speed tasks, and GPT-5.2 for long-context recall, automatically selecting the best model for each subtask
• Local File and App Access - Connects directly to files, applications, and sessions on the host Mac, enabling the agent to read, modify, rename, and organize local content without manual intervention
• Remote Control From Any Device - Controllable over the internet from any device, so you can issue objectives and check results from a phone, laptop, or tablet while the Mac mini keeps working

Personal Computer requires a Perplexity Max subscription at $200 per month, which includes 10,000 monthly compute credits. Access is currently limited through a waitlist, and the initial rollout is Mac-only. An enterprise version with SOC 2 Type II compliance, SAML single sign-on, and additional security controls has also been announced.
