Pillar Security
AI security platform that discovers, red-teams, protects, and governs AI agents, models, MCP servers, and AI applications across an organization.

About Pillar Security
Pillar Security builds a unified AI security platform for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across the AI lifecycle. Its platform covers AI discovery and posture management, agentic red teaming, runtime guardrails, an agentic endpoint offering, and governance and compliance. It is aimed at security, AppSec, SecOps, GRC and AI teams, and can be deployed in the cloud, self-hosted, or in a hybrid setup.
What It Is
Pillar is an enterprise security platform for AI systems, with a focus on AI agents. It builds an inventory of agents, models, prompts, frameworks, tools, MCP servers, skills and coding agents through agentless integrations, including shadow AI. It then maps what each agent can access and do, so risk can be assessed with business context.
How the Platform Works
The platform is organized into five stages: discovery, posture management, red teaming, adaptive runtime protection, and governance.
- Discovery and posture (AI-SPM): Traces dependencies across models and agent harnesses, scans agent configurations, permissions and identities, and flags excessive permissions such as wildcard access or missing human-in-the-loop gates.
- Red teaming: Runs multi-turn adversarial attacks against whole AI systems to test tool orchestration, permission escalation and agentic workflows. RedGraph maps how tools, prompts and data combine into attack paths. Findings come with attack transcripts, recordings and reproduction steps.
- Runtime guardrails: Self-improving guardrails are calibrated to each agent's business purpose and informed by red-teaming findings. Data privacy enforcement masks, blocks or logs PII, PHI, credentials and secrets, and behavior monitoring logs tool invocations for audits and threat hunting.
- Governance: Enforces approved model lists, MCP allowlists and AI usage policies, extends controls to third-party AI providers, and generates audit-ready compliance reports mapped to frameworks.
Deployment and Controls
The vendor states that Pillar can be deployed in a customer's own VPC with their own data and models. It also lists a SOC 2 Type II report and role-based access controls.
Research and the SAIL Framework
Pillar publishes security research on AI and agent tooling and a SAIL framework. The vendor introduced SAIL 2.0, described as a practical guide to securing AI agents.
