About Shikidan
Shikidan is a free, open-source workspace from LynchzDEV that runs AI coding agents from a single chat on your own machine. You describe the work, and the chat either answers directly or spins up a team of agents that build changes in isolated git worktrees, have them reviewed by a different AI family, and land them on your branch.
What It Is
Shikidan is a local cockpit for coding agents rather than a single-vendor assistant. It works with Claude Code, Codex, GLM via z.ai and Grok Build, and any ACP, OpenCode or headless-CLI agent can be added under Studio. It runs a Bun and Elysia server bound to 127.0.0.1, keeps state in plain JSON files, and needs no database or build step.
How the Workflow Runs
When a task is larger than a reply, the chat shows a team card with one row per agent, including its AI, model and state. Each agent works in its own git worktree, and a live line shows what it is doing. Every code change is reviewed by an AI from a different family before it lands. Failed steps are retried up to three times on different AIs, and the chat never pushes or deploys. Jobs started outside the chat, for example from the CLI, skip the automatic review.
Studio, Terminals and Plugins
Studio lets you describe a workflow and have an AI draft the steps on an editable canvas, starting from a default of plan, verify, execute and cross-family review. A Flow graph visualizes running steps and agents. The sidebar hosts live terminals for any connected agent, along with chat history and search. A git-based plugin marketplace adds extensions, such as a ClickUp board plugin, and a plugin template and SDK are available for writing your own. A shiki CLI drives a running instance from the shell.
Setup Path
Clone the repository, run bun install and bun start, then open 127.0.0.1:7777. It needs Bun 1.2+, git and at least one signed-in agent CLI, and runs on macOS or Linux, with WSL2 on Windows. A fake-engine mode swaps every AI for stand-ins so you can try the interface without accounts. The project warns that it grants full terminal and agent access to the host and should not be exposed to the public internet.
