About Solidmatics
Solidmatics is a web-based AI Engineering Manager built for founders and non-technical leaders who manage software teams but lack visibility into what actually gets delivered. Founded and led by Vygandas Pliasas, a software engineering and product leader with experience since 2006, Solidmatics connects to GitHub, Jira, and Slack in read-only mode and surfaces plain-English signals about team output without requiring anything installed on developers' machines.
What It Is
Solidmatics positions itself in the engineering observability category, but with a distinct angle: instead of handing managers a wall of metrics or dashboards, it produces an opinion — the kind of call a senior engineering lead would make after reviewing the data. The core product, marketed as "AI Engineering Manager," reads commits, tickets, and messages to identify patterns like ghost hours (billing full-time, shipping part-time), work-sharing misattribution, quiet quitting, and hidden high performers. The output is plain-English signals and alerts, not charts to decode.
How the Signal Engine Works
The setup path is described as five minutes: connect GitHub, Jira, and Slack via read-only OAuth, let Solidmatics automatically match people across platforms, and receive ongoing signals and a weekly digest. The system watches activity around the clock and cross-references code commits, ticket status, and messaging patterns to surface six named patterns:
- Ghost hours — billing full-time, shipping part-time, detected via activity timestamps
- Work sharing — two names on a task, one person writing the code, revealed by commit history
- Face vs. coder — one person dominates standups while another ships all the code
- Defect factories — more bugs filed against a person's work than features finished
- Quiet quitting — declining commits, slower replies, drying-up reviews
- Hidden superstars — steady shippers and unsung reviewers, often the most underpaid
Every flag comes with the evidence behind it, framed as a conversation starter rather than a verdict.
Who It Is For
The site's About page describes the target as bootstrapped SaaS companies doing $100K+ ARR, pre-seed/seed funded companies up to $5M, and teams of 2–15 engineers where the founder is still too involved in day-to-day engineering decisions. The tool is explicitly not positioned for companies that need someone to build an MVP from scratch or want a full-time employee at contractor prices.
The Team Behind It
Solidmatics is operated by a small team of senior technology operators. CEO Vygandas Pliasas has held engineering management and technical product roles at Huma (London), Toptal, Velocity Black, and served as Fractional CTO for Smart Annie Inc. He holds an MSc in Computer Software Engineering from Kaunas University of Technology and a Strategic Thinking for the CXO credential from Cambridge Judge Business School. Partners include Yohan Fougeray (Solutions Architect, AWS-certified, 10+ years) and Jean-Baptiste Graindorge (Cloud Infrastructure & Security, former AWS Technical Account Manager, AWS Certified Security Specialty). The company is incorporated as Solidmatics Inc. in Delaware and also operates as Cortip, MB in the EU.
Broader Product Suite
Beyond the AI Engineering Manager, Solidmatics offers a range of fixed-scope, fixed-price technical assessments for B2B SaaS companies: a flagship Technical Diagnostic, Security & Infrastructure Audit, AI Readiness & Risk Assessment, Vibe Code Risk Assessment, Vendor Proposal Review, Leadership-Engineering Alignment Audit, Org Structure & Skills Utilization Audit, Architecture Health Check, and Roadmap & Process Review. For investors, it offers a Rapid Tech Risk Memo and Comprehensive Technical Due Diligence. A continuous health scoring product called SolidPulse™ provides a single score from 0 to 100 across seven engineering dimensions with dollar impact estimates and a prioritized fix list.
