Square UI

Square UI is an open-source collection of ready-to-use application layout templates built by Leonel Ngoya (ln-dev7), a frontend developer based in Douala, Cameroon. The project lives on GitHub and is actively maintained, with new templates added regularly throughout 2025 and into 2026. A companion paid product, Square UI Pro, unlocks additional premium templates beyond the free set.

What It Is

Square UI is a template library — not a component library — focused on complete, functional application layouts. Each template ships as a full-page UI built with Next.js, TypeScript, shadcn/ui, and Tailwind CSS, covering use cases like dashboards, CRM, HR tools, task management, file managers, chat interfaces, and more. The free templates are open-source and available directly on GitHub; premium templates are gated behind Square UI Pro.

Template Breadth and Categories

As of mid-2026, the collection spans 37 templates split between 21 free and 16 premium entries. Categories include:

• Dashboards: General-purpose, CRM, HR, marketing, and leads dashboards
• Productivity: Tasks, kanban boards, calendar, projects timeline, habit tracker
• Data management: File manager, bookmarks, contacts, media vault, notes

Each template includes a live demo hosted on Vercel and, for free templates, direct GitHub source links. Many templates are available in two variants: one using Radix UI primitives and one using Base UI.

Update: Active Development Through 2026

The repository was created in March 2025 and has seen continuous additions. The most recent templates — Skyport (May 2, 2026), Cellar (May 1, 2026), and Atelier (Apr 26, 2026) — show the project is actively shipping. The GitHub repository reports 5,271 stars and 590 forks as of early June 2026, and the Circle template (a Linear-inspired project management UI) joined the Vercel OSS program in July 2025 according to the author's about page.

Free vs. Pro Split

The collection is divided into a free open-source tier and a premium tier. Free templates are fully accessible on GitHub under the repository's license. Premium templates are accessible through Square UI Pro, a separate paid product. The free set covers a wide range of dashboard and productivity layouts, while the Pro set includes more specialized or complex applications.
