    About Tactile UI

Tactile UI is made by Ciprian Titire and offers interface components designed to behave like real hardware, such as counters whose drums carry, compasses that settle on a bearing and lights on pull cords. The site lists 37 objects, 55 page sections, a UI kit of 190 parts and 26 templates, usable with React, Vue, Svelte or plain JS. A free open-source subset is published on GitHub under the MIT licence.

    What It Is

Tactile UI is a component and design-system library for web interfaces. It provides interactive objects (for example Pin Screen, Chladni Plate, Globe, Annunciator, Odometer), ready-made page sections like heroes, footers, FAQs and 404 pages, and a kit of everyday parts such as buttons, forms, tables, dialogs, charts and AI chat components. Templates cover dashboards, SaaS screens, admin panels, blogs, documentation, e-commerce, authentication and audio apps. Components are delivered as code the user owns, and finishes and themes (for example aluminium and graphite) can be switched.

    Free Open-Source Pieces

The tactile-ui-free repository contains six MIT-licensed pieces: Compass, Odometer, Pull-cord Bulb, Engraved Client Plates, FAQ Index and Machined Footer. They are plain JavaScript modules and CSS with no framework, build step or dependencies. Each piece is a folder that can be copied, or added with the shadcn CLI from the registry. The Odometer is also on npm as tactile-odometer. The README states every piece works by keyboard and touch and respects reduced motion.

    Working With AI Agents

The site documents using the library with Claude and Cursor, and states that agents can be pointed at its MCP endpoint to read each piece's docs. It lists a Claude connector directory entry and a shadcn registry install path. The kit also includes AI-oriented parts such as chat, tool call, reasoning, agent run and approval flow components.
