API Context Marketplace

API Context Marketplace is a plugin directory built by APIMatic that delivers SDK-native API context directly into AI coding agents like Claude Code, Cursor, and VS Code Copilot. Each plugin is generated from an API's official definition and its APIMatic-generated SDKs, grounding the agent in the real SDK contract instead of outdated training data. The marketplace is open-source under the MIT license and hosted on GitHub at context-plugins/plugin-marketplace.

What It Is

Coding agents hallucinate APIs. They are trained on public code and documentation — much of it outdated — and have no awareness of the API version in use, the current SDK, or the integration workflow the SDK author recommends. API Context Marketplace solves this by providing a curated collection of Context Plugins, one per API, that inject authoritative, version-aware, SDK-native context at the moment the agent needs it. As of the latest sync, the marketplace contains 24 plugins covering APIs across Fintech, Payments, Media, Data, Communications, Billing, DevTools, Mobility, Network, and Productivity categories.

How It Works

Each Context Plugin is a set of skills — Markdown files the agent loads on demand by description. Every supported language ships eight skills per plugin:

• Getting started — SDK identity, install, and how to navigate the generated source
• Client initialization — Constructing and configuring the client
• Authentication — Every auth scheme the API supports
• Calling endpoints — Method signatures, request models, reading responses
• Models — Unions, enums, collections, dates, unknown fields
• Error handling — Which exception is thrown and what it carries
• Configuration & resilience — Retries, timeouts, pagination, logging
• Testing — The test seam and how to stub it

The getting-started skill directs the agent to clone and grep the real SDK source, so every fact is grounded in the actual contract rather than model knowledge. Across the marketplace, that amounts to 72 language packs and 648 skills.

Installation and Setup

Installing a plugin takes a single CLI command run in the IDE terminal:

npx context-plugins install paypal

Node.js 18+ is the only requirement — the CLI runs via npx without a global install. One command installs the plugin into every AI coding assistant detected on the machine. The CLI also supports npx context-plugins list to browse available plugins. Claude Code users can alternatively add the marketplace directly via the claude plugin command.

Supported Platforms and APIs

Plugins currently ship skills for .NET, TypeScript, and Python, with Java, PHP, Ruby, and Go listed as coming soon. The marketplace includes plugins for well-known APIs such as Adyen, Alpaca, Binance, CoinGecko, Deepgram, Firecrawl, Google Maps, Maxio, Notion, New York Times, PayPal, Plaid, Shutterstock, Slack, Spotify, Square, Tesla Fleet, Twilio, Verizon, and Vimeo. The directory regenerates from official API specs, and new APIs land on demand.

Use Cases

The homepage identifies five primary jobs developers hire a Context Plugin to do:

• Greenfield integration — Building a new integration from scratch with no prior code to copy
• Brownfield integration — Wiring into an existing service while matching established conventions
• Breaking-change migration — Updating code when a provider ships a breaking API change
• Version upgrade — Moving to the current API version without manually hunting changelogs

Current Status

The repository was created in July 2026 and last pushed in September 2026, indicating active development. APIMatic describes Context Plugins as an AI add-on available on its Business and Enterprise platform tiers. The marketplace plugin list is auto-generated from official API specs and kept current as APIs change. API providers can submit their own APIs to be included in the directory via the Publish page.
