Claude is the flagship AI assistant built by Anthropic PBC, a safety-focused AI company. It is available as a consumer product at claude.ai and as an API platform for developers and enterprises. Claude runs on a family of models — Opus, Sonnet, and Haiku — each tuned for different capability and speed tradeoffs. What It Is

Anthropic has been expanding Claude's agentic capabilities. Claude Code is a dedicated product for software engineering tasks, available to paid subscribers and with an enterprise variant. Claude Cowork is a collaborative workspace product designed for team-based AI-assisted work. The homepage tagline "Brainstorm in chat, build in Cowork" signals Anthropic's direction toward multi-step, collaborative, and autonomous workflows rather than single-turn Q&A.

Extended thinking is available for complex reasoning tasks, and Research mode provides access to web search for grounded, citation-backed answers.

Deployment and Availability

Claude is available globally (with country-specific restrictions per Anthropic's supported countries list). It runs as a cloud-hosted SaaS product — no local model installation is required for end users. Developers access the API through the Anthropic Console. Enterprise customers can access additional compliance, security, and regional data residency options. Anthropic publishes a trust and compliance portal at trust.anthropic.com and maintains a public status page.
