About dsh-TUI
dsh-TUI is an open-source terminal interface for DeepSeek Harness (DSH), published under the MIT license by ccch1mneyyy and currently in public beta. It provides a fullscreen, Claude Code-style experience with streaming Markdown, tool cards, live work status, and session management, installed through npm.
What It Is
dsh-TUI is a plugin that mounts onto DeepSeek Harness and supplies the interactive terminal layer. The project states it makes zero core changes: it consumes DSH's public exports, and uninstalling leaves no patches behind. Model calls, tool execution, fork/resume, compaction, and persistence remain with DSH services, while the TUI handles interaction and presentation.
Terminal Interaction and Agent Status
The interface includes streaming Markdown, structured tool cards, slash-command and @ file completion (with line ranges such as #L12-14), history search, and inline or alternate-screen rendering. Kitty and Sixel terminals get image previews, and Mermaid diagrams and LaTeX math can be rendered. A status area shows live activity, context usage, tokens per second, cache hit rate, reasoning effort, token counts, and Git and session information. A pixel-whale header and a Chinese/English UI switch are included.
Session Workflow and DSH Integration
Sessions are managed with commands such as /new, /resume, /compact, /export, and /btw, plus a double-Esc rewind or fork. A unified session manager covers /resume, /agentview, and /bg. The plugin connects to DSH agent presets, skills, MCP, goals, todos, subagents, and questionnaires. The README also documents experimental Claude and Codex backends, and a migrate command that imports conversation histories from other coding agents.
Setup Path
Install with npm globally, then run dsh-tui. Node.js ^22.19 or 24+, pnpm 10+, and a terminal TTY are required, and running models with the DeepSeek API-key route needs DEEPSEEK_API_KEY. Windows, macOS, and Linux are supported. dsh-TUI adds no sandbox of its own and follows the active DSH profile's filesystem, shell, and approval policies.
