About Expo Skills
Expo Skills is a collection of AI agent skills published by the Expo team (650 Industries, Inc.) for working with Expo projects and Expo Application Services (EAS). It is MIT-licensed and installs as a plugin for Claude Code or Codex, or through the skills CLI for other coding agents.
What It Is
Expo Skills gives AI coding agents focused Expo knowledge: when to use Expo APIs, how to structure common workflows, and which Expo, EAS, React Native, iOS, and Android constraints matter. Expo documentation, Expo CLI, and EAS CLI remain the source of truth, and the skills help agents apply them correctly. Agents choose the relevant skill from the task context and each skill's description.
Skills Included
The skills are grouped into Start Here, Framework, Services, and Experimental. The entry point is expo-overview, which routes vague requests to a specific skill.
Framework skills cover project structure, Expo Router, animation, native UI, design systems, @expo/ui, data fetching, DOM components, web-to-native migration, native modules, brownfield integration, dev clients, examples, App Clips, and SDK upgrades.
Services skills cover EAS build and submit, hosting, workflows, observe, update, update insights, and a remote simulator. An experimental group includes a skill for migrating Swift Expo modules to the 2.0 macro API.
Installation and Updates
Claude Code and Codex users install the plugin from their official marketplaces and receive updates through them. Other agents, including Cursor, OpenCode, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, Gemini, and Cline, use the skills CLI with npx skills@latest add expo/skills --skill '*'. Skills CLI installs are updated with npx skills@latest update.
Expo MCP Server
The Expo MCP server complements the skills by giving an agent live access to read current Expo docs, install compatible dependencies, trigger and monitor EAS builds and workflows, pull TestFlight crash data, and screenshot a running app in the simulator. The expo plugin bundles this MCP configuration.
