Field Theory

Field Theory is a macOS productivity tool designed for builders, developers, and engineers that enables capturing twice the context in half the steps. It combines local transcription, stackable screenshots, portable commands, and priority microphone management into a single application that works with any AI tool through the clipboard.

• Portable Commands allow you to point Field Theory at any folder of markdown commands, making them available in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or anywhere else you type using a simple keyboard shortcut (command + shift + k).

• Priority Mic prevents Mac from switching your microphone when Bluetooth headphones connect. Set your preferred input once and it stays selected until you change it.

• Voice Commands let you invoke commands mid-sentence while transcribing. Say "use the commit command" and Field Theory will insert it, working with any command in your directory without internet.

• Screenshot Drawing enables capturing screenshots, circling problems, adding arrows, and freehand wireframing—all pasteable without exporting from another tool.

• Auto-improve removes filler words, tightens phrasing, and labels attachments so spoken prompts read like written ones, transforming rambling voice input into clean, professional text.

• Input Field Agnostic design means no integrations to configure. Field Theory uses the clipboard, working with ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Copilot, Gemini, Perplexity—any tool that accepts paste.

• Local Transcription runs entirely on your device, providing unlimited transcription without sending audio to the cloud.

• The Librarian feature helps organize and manage your captured context efficiently.

To get started, download the free macOS application from the releases page. The app requires macOS 14+ and Apple Silicon (M1 or later). Basic features are available for free with generous limits, while Pro users get unlimited access to portable commands, priority mic, and auto-stacks.
