What It Is

Glean positions itself as a horizontal AI platform for enterprise superintelligence — combining enterprise search, an AI assistant, and an agent-building framework into one unified system. Rather than replacing individual SaaS tools, Glean indexes data across them, builds a contextual graph of how people, content, and workflows relate, and surfaces that context to power AI-driven answers and automation. The platform is accessed via web, browser extension, and APIs, and integrates with tools employees already use.

How the Enterprise Context Layer Works

At the core of Glean is what the company calls its "System of Context" — a combination of an Enterprise Graph and a Personal Graph. The Enterprise Graph maps relationships between infrastructure, people, content, customers, and products across the organization. The Personal Graph tracks individual work habits, goals, tasks, writing style, and response preferences. Together, these graphs allow Glean to deliver personalized, permission-aware answers rather than generic search results. Glean also maintains enterprise memory that learns organizational processes over time.

Connectors, Agents, and Open APIs

Glean advertises more than 250 connectors to enterprise tools, including Slack, Google Drive, Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, GitHub, and Salesforce. Beyond search, the platform includes:

• Glean Assistant — a personal AI assistant for data analysis, research, content creation, and work execution
• Glean Agents — a no-code agent builder with orchestration, governance, and a reusable agent library
• Agent Harness — a planning and adaptation engine for intelligent multi-step agent workflows

Security and Governance Architecture

Glean runs in a customer's single-tenant cloud environment, enforcing strict data permissions so users only see what they are authorized to access. The platform holds certifications including SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, HIPAA, GDPR, and TX-RAMP Level 2. Every query, answer, and agent action is tracked for full observability, and agent behavior is validated at runtime to ensure reliability and accuracy.

Update: July Drop 2026

Glean's July 2026 product drop introduced new content creation formats, scaled governed AI workflows, and the ability to query data with full business context. The company has been releasing monthly "Product Drops" — the June 2026 drop preceded this — signaling an active, fast-moving release cadence. Glean was also named a Market Shaper in the Gartner Emerging Market Quadrant for No-Code Agent Builders, reflecting the company's push into the agentic AI space. The platform now supports multiple unique LLMs and the company publishes a Work AI Index through its Work AI Institute research arm.
