About Isomux
Isomux is a shared workspace for running Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode agents alongside human teammates. It adds persistent agent identities, communication between agents, shared tasks and access to the same conversations across devices. The product is developed by Isomux LLC, founded by Nil Mamano, and is currently in beta.
What It Is
Isomux sits above existing coding-agent tools and organizes them into a browser-based office. Agents have names, instructions, memories and working directories. Users can switch an agent between supported engines while retaining its Isomux identity.
The office can run on your computer or an always-on server. A managed hosting option provides a private server accessible through a dedicated office address.
Collaboration and Context
Multiple people can participate in the same agent conversation. Room permissions control access, while agents can discover colleagues, read accessible conversation histories and send messages. Shared instructions and memory provide context at office, room and individual levels.
A shared task board supports assignment and tracking, including synchronization with selected GitHub issues. Scheduled messages and recurring jobs let agents continue work or request attention later.
Tools for Development
The workspace includes a terminal, editor, diff viewer, diagram viewer and shared browser controls. Agents can build apps that office members open through named links. Developers can manage shared skills and use the office API for integrations.
Additional controls include conversation branching, activity records, pre-tool-call hooks and restricted agents without shell access.
Deployment and Licensing
Self-hosting requires Bun and access to a supported agent provider. Isomux can use existing Claude or ChatGPT subscriptions, while OpenCode provides additional model options. Provider usage remains subject to the relevant provider's terms and limits.
Current releases use the Business Source License 1.1 rather than an open-source license. Production use outside the license's personal and small-organization allowance requires a commercial agreement. Each version is scheduled to convert to Apache-2.0 two years after its release.
