Merge is an integrations platform founded in 2020 by Shensi Ding and Gil Feig. Its homepage describes it as a universal context engine that connects AI agents to company data, tools, and models. The platform is organized around products for teams building customer-facing features and for teams governing internal AI use.

What It Is

Merge provides infrastructure for connecting software and agents to third-party systems. Merge Unified lets companies add customer-facing integrations across hundreds of apps through a single API, covering categories such as accounting, ATS, CRM, file storage, HR and ticketing. Merge Agent Handler gives AI agents authenticated access to thousands of pre-built tools. Merge Gateway routes requests to major LLMs through one API.

Building products with Merge

For product teams, Merge says agents can take authenticated actions using 5,000+ tools, with scoped permissions and audit logs for compliance reviews. Gateway offers automatic failover when providers go down, plus prebuilt or custom routing rules, including rules set by customers. Unified syncs customer data across systems and, according to Merge, handles the integration lifecycle including authentication, monitoring and maintenance. Integration observability provides logs and health monitoring.

Merge for Workforce

Merge for Workforce targets IT teams governing employee AI. It links to identity providers such as Okta or Entra so permissions update as people join, move or leave. Teams can distribute approved MCPs and skills, restrict agents to specific systems or endpoints, and sync knowledge bases and files into a shared company context layer. Admins can block or allow models per team, set budgets that cut off access automatically, and apply built-in DLP that redacts sensitive data and logs matches for audits.

Security and compliance

Merge states it is certified in SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, HIPAA and GDPR, and its navigation lists RBAC among platform security features.
