MonoCode

MonoCode is an open-source desktop application built with Tauri and TypeScript that provides a unified graphical interface for running multiple AI coding agents. Created by Nick (GitHub: hardbeat920), it is available for macOS (Apple Silicon) and Linux, and is distributed under the MIT License.

What It Is

MonoCode sits on top of existing coding agent CLIs — it does not sell tokens or manage subscriptions itself. Instead, it acts as a GUI shell that launches and orchestrates agents you have already installed and authenticated. The interface organizes work into tabs (sessions), uses a composer as the primary input, and surfaces agent chat, diffs, a terminal, and an editor in a single window.

Supported Agents

MonoCode works with a growing list of providers, as long as they are installed and logged in locally:

• Codex (OpenAI) — codex login
• Cursor CLI — agent login
• OpenCode — opencode auth login
• Pi — installed via npm
• omp — installed via shell script
• fx — installed via shell script + fx login

Architecture and Build Model

The application is built on Tauri, requiring Node.js 20+ and a current stable Rust toolchain. On Linux, standard Tauri system dependencies (libwebkit2gtk, libgtk-3, libsoup, libjavascriptcoregtk) must be present. The primary language is TypeScript. macOS users can install via a downloadable .dmg; Linux users build from source.

Current Status

MonoCode is in very early development — the README explicitly warns users to expect bugs. The project was created in August 2026 and has already reached v0.1.10 as of August 26, 2026, indicating active iteration. Small, focused pull requests are welcome; larger changes are encouraged to open an issue first per the CONTRIBUTING guidelines.
