Netlify is a web development platform from Netlify, a San Francisco-headquartered company founded in 2014. It lets teams start a project from an AI prompt, a Git push, the command line, or drag and drop, then deploy it to a global edge network. The company describes it as one platform for building and shipping web apps, from marketing sites to AI apps.

What It Is

Netlify is a hosting and deployment platform with integrated backend building blocks. Projects can be created from a prompt with Agent Runners, imported from Git for automatic deploys on every push, deployed from the terminal with the Netlify CLI, or dropped in as a folder through Netlify Drop. Every branch, pull request, or agent run gets its own Deploy Preview URL, and deploys can be rolled back in one click.

Platform Primitives

The platform bundles serverless, edge, background and scheduled Functions, Netlify Database (managed Postgres) and Netlify Blobs for storage, Identity for login and user management, Forms for submissions without backend code, and caching with an Image CDN. AI Gateway connects apps to AI models without managing API keys. Netlify's pages say Agent Runners work with Claude, Gemini, Codex, or OpenCode.
