    About Notchy

Notchy is an open-source macOS menu bar app that integrates Claude Code directly into the MacBook notch area, providing a floating terminal panel accessible by hovering over the notch or clicking the menu bar icon. It automatically detects open Xcode projects and changes into their directories, making AI-assisted coding seamless for Apple platform developers. Built with Swift and licensed under MIT, Notchy is free to use, modify, and distribute. It leverages SwiftTerm for terminal emulation and supports multiple concurrent Claude Code sessions.

    • Notch integration — hover over the MacBook notch to instantly reveal the floating terminal panel without interrupting your workflow
    • Xcode project detection — automatically discovers open Xcode projects and cds into them so Claude Code starts in the right context
    • Multi-session tabs — run multiple Claude Code sessions side by side to handle different tasks simultaneously
    • Live status in the notch — an animated pill indicator shows whether Claude is actively working, waiting for input, or finished
    • Git checkpoints — press Cmd+S to snapshot your project before Claude makes changes, giving you a safe rollback point
    • Menu bar fallback — the menu bar icon works on any Mac, even without a physical notch
    • Open source (MIT) — clone the repo, open Notchy.xcodeproj in Xcode, and build with Cmd+B or via xcodebuild on the command line
