OpenSEO

OpenSEO is an open-source SEO tool from Every App, Inc. that positions itself as an alternative to Semrush and Ahrefs. It covers keyword research, rank tracking, competitor analysis, backlinks, site audits and AI-search visibility, using DataForSEO data. It is available as a hosted service or can be self-hosted.

What It Is

OpenSEO is an SEO research workspace built for both people and AI agents. Users run keyword research with SERPs, save keywords, track rankings, inspect a domain's traffic, keywords and backlinks, and crawl sites for technical issues. SEO data comes from the DataForSEO API.

Working with AI Agents

OpenSEO exposes an MCP server so clients such as Claude Code, Codex, ChatGPT, OpenClaw and Hermes can query SEO data directly. Reusable agent skills guide tasks such as SEO audits, keyword research and clustering, competitor analysis, link prospecting, local SEO and AI visibility audits. Agents can save project context about the business and deliver findings as saved HTML reports. A separate Google Search Console MCP gives agents clicks, impressions, CTR, position and URL inspection data.

AI Visibility

The AI visibility features let users research prompts, compare answers across supported AI models, and track brand mentions and citations.

Self-Hosting and Open Source

The code is MIT-licensed. The docs describe two self-hosting paths: Docker Compose for local use and Cloudflare for internet-facing or team use. Self-hosters bring their own DataForSEO API key.
