Text.js
A React framework for building full-stack apps that render inside the browser DevTools console via console.log.

About Text.js
Text.js is an MIT-licensed React framework from Anomaly for building apps that render in the browser DevTools console using console.log. Developers write React 19 components with an App Router, and each changed frame is laid out, encoded and emitted as a single console call. The same apps can also run in a terminal and be driven by coding agents over MCP.
What It Is
Text.js is a console-rendering application framework. Components such as Box, Text, Table, charts and form controls are laid out with Yoga on whole character cells, painted into a cell buffer, run-length encoded into %c styled spans and written with one console.log call. Frames with no changed cells log nothing. Keyboard input reaches the app through a hidden textarea hosted on the page.
How Apps Are Built and Run
Projects are generated with create-text-app and use an App Router where folders in app/ become routes and layouts, with route handlers, middleware and caching. A route can export runtime = "server" to render on the server and stream frames to a small frame player in the browser. text build supports static, bun, vercel and cloudflare adapters, and text run renders the same app in a terminal with ANSI output. Over MCP (text mcp), agents can navigate routes, press keys and read frames as plain text.
OpenCode in DevTools
OpenCode Lite is the OpenCode TUI rebuilt with Text.js to run in the browser console. It offers a scripted sandbox, or it can connect to a local OpenCode server through the @textjs/opencode proxy so sessions, agents and models come from that server.
Tooling and Learning
The project ships a Chrome DevTools extension with a component tree, frame inspector and timeline, a VS Code extension with live preview and scaffolding, an ESLint plugin, and an offscreen testing utility for asserting on rendered frames. It also includes right-to-left text support, FIGlet font parsing, and a free 10-chapter course. An Enterprise offering adds an SLA and dedicated support on top of the same framework.
