Cursor, Inc.
To accelerate global productivity by making coding the single biggest driver of progress and to equip engineering teams with the best AI-powered tools for crafting software. Cursor is building an AI-native code editor that automates software engineering.
Founding Story
The company was incorporated in 2022 by four MIT students: Michael Truell, Sualeh Asif, Aman Sanger, and Arvid Lunnemark. They met at MIT where they were obsessed with AI and spent hours debating its future. They started with a vision to create a code editor that eliminates bugs and allows developers to generate large PRs from minimal pseudo code, aiming to make source code 'melt away.' The team graduated from OpenAI's accelerator program in 2023 and launched Cursor in March 2023. They chose to incorporate as Anysphere, Inc. using Stripe Atlas.
