Google DeepMind
Google DeepMind aims to build AI responsibly to benefit humanity, working toward achieving Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) to solve fundamental scientific and engineering challenges, advance science, transform work, and improve billions of lives.
Founding Story
DeepMind was founded in 2010 by Demis Hassabis, Shane Legg, and Mustafa Suleyman with an interdisciplinary approach combining machine learning, neuroscience, and engineering. Hassabis left the video game industry to pursue a PhD in neuroscience to find inspiration for AI algorithms in the human brain, leading to landmark papers on memory and imagination. He met Shane Legg at the Gatsby Computational Neuroscience Unit at UCL in 2009. The company was officially launched on November 15, 2010, with the vision to solve intelligence and use it to make the world a better place.
