What It Is

1Panel is a web-based Linux server management panel written in Go. It replaces traditional control panels like cPanel, Webmin, and Plesk with a modern UI that covers Docker container management, website hosting, database administration, file management, and — distinctively — an integrated AI agent runtime. Users install it on a Linux VPS with a single shell command and access it through a browser.

AI Agent Runtime and the OpenClaw Ecosystem

The feature that most differentiates 1Panel from comparable panels is its native AI stack. From the dashboard, users can:

• Deploy and manage Ollama-hosted local LLMs (DeepSeek, Qwen, Gemma, and others)

Website deployment integrates directly with WordPress, handling domain binding and SSL certificate provisioning automatically.

Architecture and Setup Path

1Panel runs on Linux distributions including Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS, and Rocky Linux, and supports server architectures x86_64, aarch64, armv7l, ppc64le, and s390x. Installation requires a minimum of 1 GB RAM and internet access. The one-line install script pulls and configures the panel in roughly 60 seconds. After installation, the panel is accessible via browser at the server IP and a security path generated during setup.

The latest release is v2.2.2, published on June 16, 2026, on the dev-v2 branch. The GitHub repository shows active development with the last push on June 19, 2026. The project has accumulated over 35,900 GitHub stars and the vendor-published homepage states 1,567,210 total downloads. The Pro edition's perpetual license explicitly covers all V2 updates, with major version upgrades (V3+) to be offered at a discounted price to existing holders.

Tradeoffs to Know

The OSS edition is fully functional for individual self-hosters and covers Docker, website management, databases, firewall, SSH, file management, the app store, and scheduled tasks. The Pro edition adds multi-node unified console, advanced WAF and anti-tampering, website monitoring reports, cross-node file transfer, native iOS and Android apps, email/IM alerts, custom branding, and priority support. One Pro license is bound to one device at a time but can be deactivated and reactivated on another device. Activation requires access to the license verification service, so offline environments need a network proxy configured.
