About Aether
Aether, built by Aether Runtime, Inc., runs autonomous coding agents in isolated cloud devboxes that users can watch, steer, SSH into, and verify. Users bring their own Claude Code, Codex, or OpenCode subscription or API key, and Aether provides the machine, oversight, and review loop around it.
What It Is
Aether is a cloud coding-agent platform. A task is started from Slack, Linear, GitHub, the CLI, MCP, mobile, the API, or a schedule. Each task runs in its own Firecracker microVM, with every shell command and file change streamed live. The agent's results come back as a pull request, with screenshots, session video, and preview links attached.
Watching and steering agents
The site says a warm slot starts a task in about five seconds. Users can approve plans, steer the agent, open their own terminal in the same box, or SSH into it. Every port the agent opens gets a private shareable preview URL. Per the site, the devbox and its volume are destroyed when the PR merges or closes, or after 48 hours of inactivity.
Automated PR review
When reviews are enabled, Aether checks new pull requests in connected GitHub repositories, whoever wrote them. Findings are traced from the running app rather than only the diff. Reviews can include before/after screenshots and recorded browser video, and the reviewer re-checks each push until it approves. Developers can reply on a line or hand the fix to an agent.
Automation and extensibility
Campaigns split a large job across parallel sub-agents, each in its own devbox and branch, and merge the results into one pull request. Other documented features include scheduled automations, reply-by-email for agent questions, skills committed to a repo as SKILL.md files, a CLI, and a REST and WebSocket API. The site says 40+ models are reachable across the supported agents.
