About claude-show-your-work
claude-show-your-work is an MIT-licensed Claude Code plugin by Umer Ansari (GitHub handle iamumeransari). It displays images and videos directly in the Claude Code chat using the kitty graphics protocol, so visual work can be reviewed without switching to a browser. The latest release listed is v0.6.8.
What It Is
The plugin adds two tools, show_image and show_video, that let Claude present screenshots, designs, charts, generated images, and screen recordings inside the terminal. It works on macOS, Linux and Windows in terminals that support the kitty graphics protocol, such as Ghostty, kitty, Warp, WezTerm and Konsole. Claude Code 2.1.286 or later is required, and video needs ffmpeg.
Visual QA workflow
When Claude builds a feature or fixes a bug, it tests the change with Playwright, records the run, and plays the recording in the chat. For changes, it records the same steps on the old and new versions and plays them side by side in sync. Change markers beside the video list each change with a timestamp that can be clicked to jump to that moment. Test checks turn green or red as the video reaches them.
Images and video review
- Several design directions can be shown side by side for comparison.
- Each new version opens in the same player, and History lets you step back through earlier drafts.
- The video player supports play, pause, scrubbing, skip controls, and timestamped steps.
- Videos can be opened in QuickTime Player or saved to Downloads.
Setup and local behavior
Install with two commands: add the plugin marketplace repository, then install show-your-work. An onboarding tour runs after install, and /show-your-work changes settings. The README says images and videos stay on the machine and are drawn without using tokens. Copies are kept in a .show-your-work/ folder in the project, and the oldest files are cleared once the cache reaches about 1 GB. Anonymous usage data sharing is optional. The plugin can update itself, with Stable and Latest channels.
