About Codealong
Codealong is a free, open-source desktop app for macOS and Linux, copyrighted by Gordon L. Hempton, for people who run more than one coding agent. It finds sessions from Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Antigravity and Cursor across accounts and machines and shows them in one window organized by project, repo, worktree, branch and pull request. The latest release listed on GitHub is v0.13.0.
What It Is
Codealong is a session board and router for coding agents. It reads the files each agent harness already writes rather than wrapping or proxying the agents, so they keep running as their vendors ship them. It needs no account, API key or server. Sessions are sorted into states such as Needs you, Your turn, Working, In review and Idle, so you can see which agent is waiting on you.
Routing prompts
A global shortcut opens a quick panel where you type what you want done. Codealong can send the prompt to the agent already working on it, to a free worktree, save it as a todo, or start a chat outside any project. Auto picks the account with room under its usage limits, favoring starred accounts and the one whose week resets soonest. An optional routing model, Jev from TypeSafe, suggests destinations using your own key and is off until enabled. It also warns when a running agent may already be doing the same work.
Answering agents and working across machines
Approvals and questions can be answered from a MacBook notch, a floating bar, a pinned desktop card, or a Waiting on you window, with Allow, Always and Deny. Support for answering varies by harness, and Codex, the Cursor app and the Antigravity app open where they ask. Linked machines connect peer to peer, encrypted end to end, through Tailscale or iroh, and remote control is off until you enable it on a machine. An iPhone companion app is described as early and installed from source.
Pull requests, todos and agent access
Pull requests are joined to the worktrees and sessions behind them, with review, approve and merge in place. A todo list stays linked to the agent working on each item. The codealong command and skill let agents read the board, pick ready todos and check which account has room, and there are schedules and an experimental board and canvas view.
Setup path
On macOS, install the DMG or use Homebrew. On Linux under X11 it is built from source for now. macOS 13 or later is required, and Windows is planned but not yet supported.
