About Matrix
Matrix is a macOS desktop application that lets users spin up an autonomous "agent company" from a single business objective. The platform orchestrates fleets of AI agents — including Neo Intelligence, Claude Code, and Codex — across departments like research, engineering, growth, and ops, with each agent running its own browser, tools, files, and memory. A web app is listed as coming soon, with the macOS download currently the only available access point.
What It Is
Matrix positions itself as a proactive, multi-layer agentic runtime built for ultra-long operation. Rather than a single-task AI assistant, it structures work like a company: a CEO Office sets objectives and policy, an OKR system tracks key results and tasks, and parallel departments execute work simultaneously. The runtime closes every task with proof — files, screenshots, shipped pages, revenue, or traffic — before marking it complete.
How the Company Loop Works
When a user provides an objective, Matrix routes intent through a layered coordination structure:
- CEO Office — sets the objective, policy, and cadence
- OKR System — breaks the objective into key results and tasks
- Departments — Research, Engineering, Growth, Product, and more run in parallel, each with a Lead Agent, Worker Agents, and a shared Memory.md file
- Proof + Artifacts — completed work is verified and stored for reuse
This loop is designed to keep work moving autonomously after the first prompt, with agents collaborating through a unified file system.
Agent Capabilities and Built-in Primitives
Every agent in Matrix gets native computer and browser use, durable work memory, and multi-agent coordination. The platform ships with built-in primitives that bypass traditional business setup:
- Agent Website — deploy to a custom domain or a free matrix.site subdomain
- Agent Revenue — Stripe-connected payment infrastructure so agents can accept payments without company registration
- Agent Wallet — budgets, approvals, and payment rails for operational expenses like tool purchases and ad campaigns
- Agent Email — outbound and inbound email routing attached to ongoing work
Model Support and Benchmark Claims
Matrix supports a wide range of frontier models built-in: Neo Intelligence, Claude Code, Codex, ChatGPT, Gemini, GLM, DeepSeek, Kimi, and Qwen. The homepage publishes a live GDPval-Bench leaderboard where Matrix claims 95.45% performance, compared to Codex CLI at 84.9%, Claude Opus 4.7 at 80.3%, and Gemini 3.1 Pro at 67.3% — all vendor-published figures on the Matrix site.
Integrations
Matrix lists over 40 integrations that agents can connect to, including:
GitHub, Slack, Notion, Stripe, Figma, Supabase, Gmail, Linear, Discord, Shopify, Vercel, HubSpot, Reddit, Salesforce, Dropbox, Telegram, MongoDB, X (Twitter), Airtable, Coinbase, YouTube, Asana, PostgreSQL, Mailchimp, Docker, Trello, LinkedIn, Google Sheets, Sentry, Zapier, Instagram, Google Drive, GitLab, WhatsApp, ClickUp, Jira, Substack, Google Calendar, TikTok, and Google Ads.
Current Status
Matrix currently runs on macOS only, available as a direct download from download.matrix.build. The homepage notes a web app is coming soon. The site showcases three live "flagship run" companies — a Video Commerce Studio, an SEO Growth Lab, and a Lead Gen Agency — as proof-of-concept deployments, with the Video Commerce Studio case citing 700k+ YouTube views and revenue generated, per vendor-published figures.
