About SingleStore
SingleStore (formerly MemSQL) is a distributed SQL database company whose platform combines transactional and analytical processing in a single engine. Its managed cloud service, SingleStore Helios, is available on public clouds, and a self-managed edition is also documented. The homepage now pairs the database with Aura Intelligence, a layer for asking questions of live data in plain English.
What It Is
SingleStore is a database-as-a-service and self-managed database for real-time applications, analytics, and AI workloads. It supports SQL with ACID transactions and a multi-model approach covering relational data, JSON/BSON documents, vector search, full-text search, time-series, geospatial, and key-value data. Its Universal Storage table type combines rowstore and columnstore for both transactions and analytics. Storage scales independently of compute.
How Data Gets In and Out
SingleStore Pipelines ingest data, with optional transforms, from sources such as Kafka, Amazon S3, and HDFS. SingleStore Kai provides MySQL and MongoDB wire-protocol compatibility, so MongoDB applications can connect through an API. The company also describes bidirectional integration with Apache Iceberg and a no-code migration product called SingleStore Flow. Helios includes Jupyter notebooks for SQL and Python work and a Data API.
Aura Intelligence for People and Agents
According to the homepage, Aura Intelligence includes Analyst, which takes a plain-English question, plans the query, and runs it against the live database. It also includes a Context Engine that gives agents a shared map of schemas, relationships, and definitions. SingleStore says this reduces the queries and tokens agents spend rediscovering that context at runtime.
Enterprise Capabilities
The product overview lists authentication through providers such as Okta, Ping, and Azure AD, audit logging, multi-AZ failover, and point-in-time recovery. It also lists built-in observability and API-driven operations. SingleStore states it holds ISO/IEC 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2 certifications, and lists CCPA, GDPR, and HIPAA among its compliance coverage.
