Founding Story
After selling his shares in PSPDFKit in 2021 after building it for over 13 years, Peter Steinberger was 'very broken' and took time to recover. He came back from retirement to explore how AI changes everything about software development. In 2025, he founded Amantus Machina to pioneer hyper-personal AI agents and build tools that solve his own problems, then share them with the world.

Austrian software engineer and entrepreneur with 20+ years of experience. Previously founded PSPDFKit in 2011 (bootstrapped and scaled to 60+ employees before successful exit to Insight Partners in 2021 for €100M/$116M). Former Senior iOS Engineer at a startup in San Francisco. Taught iOS and Mac development at Vienna University of Technology for over 2 years. Holds B.Sc. in Computer and Information Sciences from Technical University Vienna (2008-2012) and Higher School Certificate in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from HTL Braunau. Prolific open-source contributor including work on AFNetworking and Dropbox's djinni. Active in iOS development since iOS 2.0 (inception of iPhone). Co-founder of Founders of Europe investment consortium.
