About Agent HUD
Agent HUD is a desktop heads-up display for AI coding agents such as Claude Code and Codex, built by jazzenchen. It shows which agents are busy, done or waiting, tracks quotas and token usage, and lets you answer agent requests from the screen edge. The core is open source under Apache-2.0, and the Mac app is available with Windows and Linux previews.
What It Is
Agent HUD gathers progress from the coding agents installed on your computer and presents it in one place. It reads the records those agents already keep and reads quotas and balances from each vendor using the agent's existing sign-in. The homepage says it works with 18 agents, while the GitHub README table lists 27, including Claude Code, Codex, DeepSeek Harness, Antigravity, Cursor, OpenCode and GitHub Copilot CLI. Support differs per agent.
On Screen: Glow, Hover and Requests
Each display runs one mode: Notch, Simple or Dynamic. A glow takes one colour per agent from its most used quota: green under 70% used, yellow from 70%, red from 90%. Hovering shows quotas with resets or burn rates, balances, the last 24 hours of tokens and sessions. Permission requests and agent questions can be approved, denied or always allowed on the HUD, and one click returns to the session's thread, tab or terminal pane. A request left unanswered goes back to the agent after 10 minutes.
Token Usage and Built-in MCP
Token statistics can be broken down by time, token kind, agent, model, session, turn and call, with cache hits and cost estimates at each vendor's list price, marked as estimates rather than charges. History stays local for 30 days. A built-in MCP server lets Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity and DeepSeek Harness message each other, and lets MCP clients rearrange the Mac HUD, with changes previewed and kept only when saved.
Phone and Watch
On the same network, iPhone and Apple Watch show a Mac's quotas, token statistics and sessions. The optional Agent HUD Remote adds access over any network through iCloud, conversations, decisions, voice notes from the watch that become sessions, alerts and Live Activities. Remote is for Mac only for now.
Platforms and Setup
The Mac app requires macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon or Intel and updates itself. Windows 10/11 and Ubuntu/Debian Linux builds are unsigned previews. It can be installed via Homebrew, npx, a release download, or built from source with Tauri 2 and Rust. A build from source uploads nothing.
