About Bops
Bops is a Mac app from Orgo (Organic Intelligence, Inc.) in which AI bots handle business operations such as inbox triage, CRM updates, invoice follow-up, Stripe reconciliation and weekly reports. Each bot works on its own cloud computer and has its own email address, and the main bot of a workspace has a phone number. The source code is published under the FSL-1.1-ALv2 license, and the latest listed release is v0.0.6.
What It Is
Bops is a desktop chat app where you talk to bots as teammates. A main bot (Boppy by default) runs the team and hands work to specialist bots you add. Bots talk to each other, keep threads and report back in the chat. The homepage's examples include Boppy as Chief of Staff, Penny on finance, Otto on outbound and Iris on inbox.
How the Bots Work
Each bot gets an Orgo cloud computer with up to four screens, so it can work on several things at once. You can watch any screen live, take control, then hand it back. Reading actions run immediately, while sending, paying and deleting wait for your approval. Bots can also work in your Mac's apps through Codex computer use, under rules you set for which apps are allowed.
Channels, Memory and Apps
You can reach bots through the app, by text, by phone call (live voice), by email, or in Slack, Telegram and Discord. WhatsApp and a real phone per bot are listed as coming soon. Long-term memory is kept per workspace through Honcho. About 1,000 apps, including Gmail, Calendar, Slack, Notion and HubSpot, connect through Composio, with several accounts each and per-bot access control. Routines and watches cover scheduled tasks, reminders and screens a bot monitors.
Hosted and Self-Hosted Setup
The hosted route is to download the Mac app and sign in with Orgo, which runs the services for you. Self-hosting requires macOS on Apple silicon, Node 22 or newer, an OpenAI API key and an Orgo account. Optional pieces include Tailscale, AgentMail, AgentPhone and an edge webhook relay for texts and calls. The app is an Electron shell that loads a local Next.js server.
