About Craft Agents
Craft Agents is an open-source desktop application from Craft Docs Ltd. (craft.do) for working with AI agents through a multi-session inbox rather than a CLI. It connects to Claude, ChatGPT, OpenRouter, local models and other providers, and lets agents reach external services via APIs, MCP servers, local files or a built-in browser. The source is released under the Apache 2.0 license.
What It Is
Craft Agents is an agent workspace built on agent-native principles, using the Claude Agent SDK and the Pi SDK side by side. Users describe what they want, and the agent works out how to do it through APIs, MCP servers, code or the browser. The README says the team builds Craft Agents with Craft Agents itself.
Sources, Skills and Browser
You can tell the agent to add a source such as Linear, and it finds public APIs or MCP servers, reads their documentation and configures credentials. Existing MCP config JSON can be pasted in, stdio-based local MCP servers run as local subprocesses, and OpenAPI specs or endpoint URLs can be used for custom APIs. A built-in Chromium browser lets the agent navigate pages, fill forms, extract data and take screenshots. Skills are reusable instructions stored per workspace, and Claude Code skills can be imported. Skills and sources can be mentioned with @ mid-conversation without restarting.
Models and Permissions
Supported connections include Anthropic (API key or Claude Max/Pro), Google AI Studio, ChatGPT Plus via Codex OAuth, GitHub Copilot, OpenRouter, Vercel AI Gateway, Ollama, LM Studio and any compatible custom endpoint. Permission modes are Explore (read-only), Ask to Edit and Auto, and per-source permissions can be set.
Workflow and Deployment
Sessions are organized like an inbox with customizable statuses, flagging, background tasks and full persisted history. Automations can trigger agent sessions on events or cron schedules. Sessions can be shared via a viewer that can be self-hosted. Craft Agents can also run as a headless remote server, with the desktop app as a thin client, in Docker, with optional TLS. A CLI client supports scripting and CI use.
