About Leon by Zavu
Leon, built by Zavu, is an Apache-2.0 open-source native desktop app described as an agentic development environment. It lets developers run Claude Code, Codex, opencode and many other command-line coding agents side by side across projects, git worktrees and machines. The latest release shown is v0.16.0, with builds listed for macOS, Linux and Windows.
What It Is
Leon is a keyboard-first desktop orchestrator for coding agents. It keeps machines (this computer and SSH servers or paired computers), projects, worktrees and agent sessions in one sidebar tree, and runs agents in real terminals inside the window. Sessions keep running in the background while you look at something else, and history from Claude Code, Codex and opencode is imported into a local SQLite database for search and resume. The site says it is written in Rust with a GPU-rendered interface.
Working with agents
The documented workflow centers on a few pieces:
- An optional, experimental conversation view that draws sessions of supported agents itself, with folded tool calls, inline diffs, a card listing changed files, and rewind to an earlier message.
- An Orchestrator agent that answers across projects and hands longer investigations and code changes to worker agents, each in its own worktree and branch. The documentation states it never merges, never pushes to a default branch and never force-pushes.
- A Changes tab for reading diffs, committing, pushing and opening pull requests through the GitHub CLI.
- A worktree sidebar showing pull request state, plus one prompt that can start several agents in separate worktrees for comparison.
- A task board, a shared local memory for agents, project scripts and worktree setup in leon.toml, usage tracking, local dictation and TOML themes.
Machines and remote access
Other computers can be added over SSH or paired with a short code through an end-to-end encrypted relay operated by Zavu. Leon says the relay feature has had no independent security review yet. A companion phone app for iPhone and Android pairs the same way, and a host can run as a background service on Linux and macOS.
Agent support
The catalogue lists 43 built-in agents, and custom agents can be added. History import and resume exist for Claude Code, Codex and opencode; most other agents run in a terminal with launch-only or resume support as listed in the catalogue.
Setup path
On Linux, an install script, .deb or .rpm packages are available; macOS offers DMG files and Windows a zip. The agents themselves must be installed separately on each machine. Leon updates itself from its GitHub releases.
